REDLANDS, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's basketball won 83-77 against Redlands Saturday night on the road.
Season Impact: The victory puts the Sagehens at 10-6 on the season, including 5-2 in SCIAC play. The Sagehens have won four games in a row.
Jadyn Lee led the Sagehens with a new season-high 25 points on an efficient 10-of-14 shooting night while surpassing 1,000 career points in the victory. Lee also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and had six assists, while Abigail Homan added 13 points and Sara Chicco chipped in ten. Sofia Robel scored 11 points and Avery Patricco had 10 points off the bench.
The Sagehens traded baskets early with Redlands in a back-and-forth first quarter, as J. Lee scored six quick points and Homan knocked down a three to keep the Sagehens within striking distance. Despite solid transition looks from Patricco and Chicco, Redlands outscored the Sagehens 14-8 in points in the paint, building them a small edge. The Sagehens trailed 22–18 at the end of the opening period. The Sagehens opened the second quarter trading baskets with Redlands, as J. Lee scored on a pull-up jumper and later assisted Emily Lee on a three at 8:34 to keep the Sagehens within one. Patricco finished through contact to give Pomona a brief edge, and Molly Pieper added a paint bucket as the Sagehens continued to answer every Redlands push. J. Lee closed the half with a strong layup at the buzzer to send Pomona-Pitzer into halftime leading 37–33.
The Sagehens answered an early Redlands push with an 11–3 run, highlighted by fastbreak threes from Homan and back-to-back buckets from J. Lee to extend the lead to 49–42 midway through the quarter. Redlands battled back to tie it late, but Patricco scored in transition with :27 left and Homan sealed the stop with a steal at the buzzer to give the Sagehens a 58–56 edge going into the final quarter. Pomona-Pitzer opened the fourth quarter with back-to-back threes from Chicco and a strong interior finish from Robel to build a double-digit lead, then answered every Redlands push down the stretch. J. Lee closed it out with key buckets and free throws in the final minute as the Sagehens sealed an 83–77 road victory.
