Michael Ma claimed back-to-back and a third career Lee Fulmer Athlete of the Year accolade after leading Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in a record-setting final round to rally for the SCIAC Championship.
Ma tied for top individual medalist honors at -10 and posted the lowest single round of the tournament on Day Two at -7. The senior keyed the Stags' rally to a seven-shot victory after trailing by 13 strokes entering the final day.
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges rookie
Nilay Naik earned Ken Sherman Newcomer of the Year recognition after finishing with the lowest combined SCIAC regular season tournament rounds as well as tying for fifth at the SCIAC Championship.
Occidental College's
Adam Elshamy was presented with the Jesse Clark Sportsmanship Award. Elshamy has provided a calm and settling influence on the Tigers squad over four years. Coach Will Morris stated:
"Adam is not only a fine player, but more importantly a fine person and excellent student.”
Mitchell Fedorka claimed Coaching Staff of the Year honors after leading CMS to a record-setting third round when facing a 13-stroke deficit entering the day. The Stags won the championship by seven strokes with four of five players earning All-Conference recognition.
All-Conference teams were determined by order of finish at the three-round SCIAC Championship, inclusive of ties. Ma ends a superb career with four First Team accolades while
Adam Cartozian of California Lutheran University three-peated on the top squad.
John Kim of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges returned to the First Team for a third career honor and
Jamison Tan (CMS) stepped up from the Second Team last spring. University of Redlands senior
Aaron Buck received a third career All-Conference nod and University of La Verne's
Jason Bustos repeated on the Second Team.
