Women's Soccer All-SCIAC: PP Duo Hong, Rojas Collins Secure Athlete of Year Recognition

Hannah Hong and Vivian Rojas Collins of regular season champion Pomona-Pitzer Colleges have secured Athlete of the Year honors atop the 2025 SCIAC Women's Soccer All-Conference teams.

Hong repeats as Offensive Athlete of the Year, having matched last year's goal output with seven to lead the conference once again. The undefeated Sagehens mustered 30 points to successfully defend the outright regular season championship by just two points.

Rojas Collins and the Sagehen back line were critical to that success as well. The center back held firm for the conference's stingiest defense while also continuing to display strong ball distribution with limitless range, both passing and shooting as the junior scored twice from free kicks.

California Lutheran University midfielder Stephenie Hackett earned Newcomer of the Year honors as the Regals' engine, showcasing strong ball-winning ability and quick transition upfield. The rookie also showed adeptness on the ball and managed to score both goals in the regular season finale to secure the #2 seed in the SCIAC Tournament.

Logan Morris of Occidental College was acknowledged with the Award of Distinction, which recognizes a senior for examplary achievement through their higher education experience including significant contributions to their school and serving their community. It emphasizes sportsmanship, balancing athletic excellence with academic achievement, modeling positive behavior and inclusion. Morris will graduate with a degree in cellular and molecular biology after playing through multiple significant injuries over a four-year career while also serving on the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) committee, as Alpha Chi Sigma Philanthropy chair and being involved with numerous research projects.

Jen Scanlon and the Pomona-Pitzer bench were named Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the unbeaten Sagehens to a seventh consecutive regular season title and the joint-most First Team All-SCIAC honorees. The Sagehens registered a goal differential of +18 with the conference's top-ranked defense surrendering just four tallies, while the offense was one of three teams to top the 20-goal threshold.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges led all teams with six total All-SCIAC honorees, matching the Sagehens and Regals with four on the First Team. Pomona-Pitzer also landed one Second Team selection while Occidental College and Chapman University each received one First Team and three Second Team picks. Whittier College landed one player on each team and the trio of Caltech, the University of La Verne and University of Redlands each received one selection. Jenna Urrabazo is this year's only four-time All-Conference honoree, while Rojas Collins and Cate Lewison of CMS repeated on the First Team for a third All-Conference selection in as many seasons. Hong and CLU's Olivia Suarez repeated on the First Team, with Oxy's Mia Steadman returning after a one-year hiatus. Another pair of Athenas in Sadie Brown and Flora Glantz stepped up from previous Second Team appearances over the last two seasons. Alanis Cervantes (WC) and Maren Handel (ULV) each earned a third career Second Team designation, while Haley Jacobson (Oxy) repeated on the second squad and CJ Akroush overcame injury to make a second consecutive All-Conference list.

The 2025 SCIAC Women’s Soccer Tournament has gotten underway with #4 seed Occidental defeating #5 Chapman in the First Round matchup on Monday night. The semifinals will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 6 as Oxy faces #1 Pomona-Pitzer at 2 p.m. and #2 Cal Lutheran hosts #3 CMS at 7 p.m.
