Dr. Jenny Kraska will always remember running up the hill to the cross that overlooks Cal Lutheran’s campus with her teammates during each fall’s first practice. She cherished those moments up on that peak, symbolizing the start of a new season with her best friends by her side.

Dr. Kraska was a member of the Cal Lutheran women’s soccer team for two years in 2014 and 2015. She served as a team captain and appeared in 15 games in her career as a Regal, but her influence in the world of collegiate athletics extends far beyond her accomplishments on the field.

As an undergraduate student, Dr. Kraska’s career goal was to work as a sports psychologist. She testifies that her experience as a student-athlete confirmed her desire to work in college athletics by giving back and supporting future student-athletes.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree, Dr. Kraska remained at Cal Lutheran to earn both her master’s degree and her doctorate in clinician psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Arizona State and her postdoctoral fellowship at Washington State. She then worked at the University of Arizona in the sports psychology department.

An Atlanta native, Dr. Kraska’s career has recently brought her life full circle, as she was named the director of sports psychology at Georgia Tech in October 2024. In her current role, she “provides mental health and mental performance services to university student-athletes, consults with coaches, and works within the interdisciplinary sport medicine staff to improve treatment outcomes.”

Cal Lutheran is proud to be part of Dr. Kraska’s journey, leading her to positively affect the lives of so many student-athletes across the country.
