The 2024 SCIAC Volleyball Tournament will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7:00 p.m. with the inaugural First Round matchup of #4 seed Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and #5 Chapman University, the winner of which faces #1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges while #2 University of La Verne hosts #3 Whittier College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

The Athenas delivered an outstanding regular season, dominating most conference matches with a remarkable 14-2 record for a ninth consecutive regular season title. With several conference statistical leaders on the roster, CMS has relied on standout performances from players like
Dede Carranza, who leads the conference in total digs, and
Georgia McGovern, the conference leader with 617 assists. Helping to drive the Athena’s dominance at the net and offensive efforts are
Brooke McKee and
Solvej Eversoll. McKee holds the second-highest average in kills per set at 3.98, while Eversoll has been a consistent force on the court, delivering a standout performance against the Panthers with 11 kills and five blocks.
2023 Offensive Athlete of the Year
Mya Ray defended her SCIAC kills crown for a third season with an impressive average of 4.51 per set. Adding to the impressive offensive lineup are
Malia Capistrano and
Vanessa Marquez, whohave been combined for nearly 10 assists per set. Teammate
Zacky Coaston, a four-time Defensive Athlete of the Week this season, has been a critical asset at the net for the Leopards as the conference leader in total blocks and main contributor to opponents hitting a conference-low .105.
Lauren Gott and libero
Madison Smith, along with Ray, have been essential to the Leopards’ defense this season, each adding dynamic elements that strengthen the team’s back row. Gott and Ray not only contribute offensively, but also play a crucial role in serve receive and digs.
With an 11-5 record in conference play, the Whittier College Poets enter the tournament as the third seed, poised to be strong competitors in the postseason.
Riley DeGroot has secured a spot on the conference’s top 10 leaderboard for total points as a testament to her offensive impact throughout the season.
Malena The and
Morgan Lin have also contributed significantly to the team's offensive output, averaging a notable number of kills and assists per match. 2023 Newcomer of the Year
Mia D’Amato is a versatile asset for the Poets, leading the team in blocks per set while consistently delivering high hitting percentages on offense.
The Sagehens matched the Poets with an 11-5 conference record but claimed the fourth seed via sets won between their two matchups.
Paige Mountanos is a key offensive contributor, posting an impressive record across conference matches for both total points and kills per set.
Samantha Grabb follows behind Mountanos with 203 points throughout conference play in the regular season, while
Jenny Jenks has added to the offensive abilities with a total of 337 assists and a competitive average per game.
Kellan Hayes, a standout middle blocker for the Sagehens, has hit an impressive .329 as one of the most fearsome players at the net in the conference.
The Chapman University Panthers enter the conference tournament as the fifth seed, led by standout outside hitters
Olivia Harrison and
Brooke Leslie, who have recorded impactful stats on the conference leaderboards.
Olivia Sampsonstrengthens the offensive lineup with an average of 3.17 kills per set, positioning her as third highest in the conference. Senior
Annika Ruud has been a steady veteran presence for the Panthers this season, delivering consistent performances on both offense and defense.
The winners of each semifinal game will meet in the Tournament final on the campus of the highest remaining seed on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m.
