Swimmer of the Week
Name: Elizabeth Ma
School: Caltech
Year: First-year
Events: Distance/IM
Hometown / High School: Burien, Wash. / Mount Rainier

Ma won the 1000-yard Freestyle in Caltech’s second-fastest time in program history against swimmers from Division I California Baptist University and University of San Diego, out-touching the runner-up by a mere .35 thanks to a furious last two laps. She also placed sixth in the 200 IM and ninth in the 500 Free, as well as swimming the opening leg on a 400 Free Relay team.

Name: Ava Balanon
School: Caltech
Year: First-year
Events: 3m/1m
Hometown / High School: Vacaville, Calif. / Buckingham Coll. Charter Acad.

Balanon placed seventh on both boards against DI competition in Caltech’s double-dual meet. She scored a 227.45 on the 3-meter board and 220.50 on the 1m.
