Offensive Athlete of the Week

Tyler Tremain
School: Redlands

Position: Quarterback
Hometown/High School: Folsom, Calif./Folsom

Tremain came through in the clutch as the University of Redlands rallied from a 14-point second quarter deficit to score 24 unanswered for the win at Pacific Lutheran University. He led a crucial 58-yard drive in just 35 seconds to end the second quarter, finding Tate Robards for a 49-yard catch on third down and punching in the score from the 1-yard line. He ran in another TD just 29 seconds into the third quarter to tie the game after PLU fumbled the kickoff at the 2-yard line. Tremain completed two other third-down conversions late in the third and midway through the fourth quarters to extend scoring drives, ending the day with 146 yards through the air and 38 gained on the ground. 

Defensive Athlete of the Week

Thanio Bright
School: Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Year: Jr.
Position: Defensive Back
Hometown/High School: Austin, Texas/James Bowie

Bright grabbed the first two interceptions of his career at key moments as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges flew nearly 2,000 miles to pick up a 24-15 victory at the University of Chicago in a battle of seven-win teams from last season. Bright picked off his first pass on the 2-yard line and returned it to the CMS red zone before a penalty brought the ball back to midfield. He sealed the win with his second pick in the fourth quarter and contributed three tackles over the contest, including one a yard shy on third down that led to a turnover on downs.

Diego Serrano
School: California Lutheran University
Year: Jr.
Position: Defensive Back
Hometown/High School: Garden Grove, Calif./Pacific

Serrano blocked a punt that was returned for what proved to be the decisive touchdown to put California Lutheran University up 38-7 in the third quarter before Southwestern (Texas) University mounted a furious rally for a final score of 41-35. He also made four tackles and broke up a pass in the secondary.
