Senior Matthew O'Connor has played number one singles and doubles for Oxy the past two seasons. He ended this year with a 13-2 record in singles, a 15-3 record in doubles, and was named First-Team All-SCIAC. In the latest ITA rankings released on April 17, Matthew was ranked second in the West Region in singles and doubles.
Matthew competed at the 2023 DIII NCAA Tennis Championships for singles, making him the first player from Oxy in over fifteen years to compete in the NCAA Individual Tournament. He helped the team to a 13-6 overall record and a ranking of 27th in the country, its highest ranking in at least fifteen years. Post-Oxy, Matthew plans to coach tennis at the nationally recognized tennis center JTCC in College Park, Md.
