Emily Cho's impact on Chapman athletics goes beyond the team-low score of 73 she shot to begin her sophomore golf season. She is a key contributor to Chapman's student-run sports broadcasting network, CSBN.
While in years past, CSBN has covered each home football game, the club has taken leaps and bounds this year, holding their first full broadcasts of volleyball and soccer games, even streaming the SCIAC Semi-Finals and Final men's soccer broadcasts.
Cho says it's just the beginning of what's to come for the club.
"I'm hoping to do more tier 1 broadcasts for more sports," Cho said of the club's more complex broadcasts. "We're also hoping to try out new ways to spice up our broadcasts, like when we did a desk show for our pre-show for one of our football games.
Cho is the social media manager for CSBN and you can find her all over the place during game week. Whether she's helping film pre-game content, like b-roll and interviews, or working on content to post on the CSBN Instagram and Twitter pages.
This great passion Cho shows for broadcasting wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for her first passion: golf.
"If it weren't for golf, I would not be at Chapman University," Cho said. "I only decided to be (a broadcast journalism) major because I reached out to Niki B from the golf channel who recommended majoring in broadcast journalism. Golf set my mind straight in which kind of broadcasting I want to get into, but CSBN has opened me up to other sports as well."
Cho will be working at upcoming NFL broadcasts, hoping to bring some of that CSBN flair to the big leagues.
