2016 Softball All-Conference Teams
PASADENA, Calif – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognizes athletic excellence through its All-Conference Awards. The All-Conference selections recognize outstanding participation and performance in conference play. Nominations and votes are submitted by the head coach of each team in the conference.
The SCIAC recognizes student-athletes from each varsity sport who have demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship in their respective sport. These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents and spectators. Through positive action and leadership, these student-athletes inspire others to adhere to the quality of sportsmanship the SCIAC and the NCAA endorse. The softball sportsmanship Team consists of a student-athlete from each team that exemplifies these ideals.

The standout University of La Verne pitcher earns 2016 Athlete of the Year honors. The senior from Rohnert Park, Calif boasts a conference-leading 17 wins throughout SCIAC play with a 1.63 ERA. Kibbe has a .345 batting average.

The pitcher for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps leads the conference in shutouts and saves and is second in wins behind the Athlete of the Year for 2016. The defensive specialist has 14 starts in her 20 appearances.

Outfielder Kacey Whitney is honored as Co-Newcomer of the Year in her first year of SCIAC play. The freshman posted a .386 batting average through regular season play and led the conference in doubles hit (11) with more plate appearances than anyone else in conference play.
Liz Rodarte, the freshmen from Pomona-Pitzer takes her share of Co-Newcomer of the Year honors. Rodarte leads the conference in strikeouts (95) and strike-outs per game (6.98). Her 88 appearances at the plate resulted in a .256 batting average.

| University of La Verne, Julie Smith Head Coach |
Former United States Olympian Julie Smith completes her ninth season as head coach of the University of La Verne softball program in 2016.
Under Smith's leadership, the Leopards earned the No. 1 seed heading into the SCIAC Postsesason Tournament after tallying a 25-3 conference record on the season. Smith led the leopards to to six appearances in the first eight SCIAC Postseason Tournaments.
The Leopards have excelled off the field as well. La Verne has placed a total of 10 student-athletes on the Academic All-SCIAC Softball Teams from 2013-2015 and has had total of 14 student-athletes named NFCA Scholar Athletes.
