Senior Alicia Freese ran away from the competition to win the 2009 Division III West Region cross country individual title Saturday on her home campus course. With her victory, Freese becomes Pomona-Pitzer's first regional meet champion in school history. Freese ran 22:07 over the 6000 meter (3.7 mile) course to win after pulling away from the front pack in the last quarter mile of the race. Freese qualifies to the NCAA National Championships this Saturday, Nov. 21 in Cleveland, Ohio.
