Cal Lutheran completed its perfect SCIAC season (10-0) as junior Joy Cyprian scored five goals in the 2009 Women's Water Polo SCIAC Championship game. Her fifth goal capped off a second half in which the Regals outscored Pomona-Pitzer 4-0 to earn an 8-7 come from behind victory providing Cal Lutheran its first ever conference title in water polo. The Regals, who have been ranked No. 1 in Division III for the past three weeks, will make their first trip ever to the NCAA Championships on March 8-10. Cyprian currently leads the team with 42 assists and is second with 56 goals this season.


Onesa Bowman, University of Redlands

Junior Onesa Bowman monopolized the top of the podium in the shorter sprint events and also played a crucial role on a second-place relay team at the 2009 SCIAC Track & Field Championships. Bowman won the 100m Dash title with a time of 12.56, outperforming the second-place runner by .28 seconds. She then went on and blitzed past the field in the 200m Dash, winning with a 25.35. That 200m Dash standard stood .65 quicker than the next-fastest competitor. Her 100m Dash time moved her up to eighth all-time in program history in the event, and she moved up to fifth all-time in the 200m Dash. She also participated on Redlands' 4x100m Relay, which took fourth, and fired off an anchor split of 55.9 to help the Bulldog 4x400m Relay claim a second-place finish (4:02.45).
