SCIAC Honors Female Athlete of the Week:  Pomona-Pitzer's Siobhan Finicane

Congratulations to Pomona-Pitzer's Siobhan Finicane for being named the SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week!

The freshman from Brimfield, MA solidified her standing as the top player in SCIAC with two singles and two doubles wins at the SCIAC Championships this past weekend. In singles, Finicane was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over the number one player from Occidental, and an 8-1 winner in doubles. The two wins helped propel the Sagehens to the conference finals. In the win, she was personally responsible for two of the five points needed to clinch the win. On Sunday, in the finals, Finicane did her part, teaming with her doubles partner for an 8-3 win at number one doubles, and then dispatching of CMS' number 1 player Yassie Entekabi, 6-0, 6-2. Finicane was named SCIAC Player of the Year and has already been named NCAA All-American. She has helped the Sagehens to an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
