Athenas make cut on NCAA day three at NCAA Golf Championships; Redlands' Ordian Rises on Individual Leadersboard

Twenty-two teams and six individuals competed in the first three rounds. The field was cut to the low 15 teams and six individuals not on an advancing team for Friday's final round. Tee times for the Athenas on final round will begin at 7:45 a.m. Central Time on Friday. 

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team maintained their position in ninth place at the NCAA Championships at the Bay Oaks Country Club on Thursday afternoon in the NCAA Division III National Championships. The Athenas, led by Margaret Loncki, improved their team score for the third day in a row to shoot a 314. Their three-day total of 951 (321+316+314) is 48 strokes back from the leader, George Fox, and just 24 strokes back from the No. 5 team, Texas-Tyler.

Defending Individual National Champion, Caroline Ordian from Redlands, rose two spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 18th place with a third-round score of 74.  For the second day in a row, she improved her score and her standing among the talented field. With a 54-hole total of 229 (80-75-74), Ordian sits 10 strokes behind the co-leaders from Rhodes College (TN) and Bridgewater College (VA) with one round remaining. Ordian tees off for her final round at 9:35 a.m. CT in the second-to-last group.
