SCIAC Honors Female Athlete of the Week: La Verne's Marissa Raya

A senior from Pasadena, Raya averaged 20.1 points in her last five games on her way to notching her 1,000th career point.  Raya tallied 19 and 30 points, respectively, in La Verne's two wins over Carnegie Mellon and King's (Dec. 20-21) at the Caribbean Hoops Showdown in Cancun, Mexico.  She followed that effort with a career-high 34 points against Transylvania University (KY) on Dec. 29, scoring her 1,000th point in the process.  Raya became the fifth women's basketball player in ULV school history to reach the 1,000 point club.
