La Verne Hosts the AVCA Webcast Match of the Week

The University of La Verne volleyball team will host the University of Redlands Tuesday, Oct. 16, in a contest featured as the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Webcast Match of the Week.

The webcast of the match will begin at 7:30 pm (10:30 pm EDT).

La Verne, the seven-time defending SCIAC Champions, enters the match in first place with a 9-0 league mark.  The Leopards are also ranked #8 in the latest AVCA Division III Top 25 Poll with an overall record of 17-5.  Redlands, the 2006 West Region runner-up, is tied for third in the conference standings at 4-3 with an 11-10 overall mark.

Tuesday marks the first-ever occasion that any member of the SCIAC has been featured in an AVCA national broadcast.

"We are extremely pleased to be a part of the AVCA Match of the Week series," said La Verne head coach Don Flora.  "This is a great opportunity to showcase the outstanding level of play within the SCIAC and West Region.  We look forward to having a great environment along with a quality opponent for a match that carries significant conference and region implications.
