The University of Redlands named Aaron Olswanger as the Bulldogs' Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach.  In addition to his role with the cross country teams, Olswanger will continue serving as an assistant track & field coach.

"I look forward to working with the cross country and track & field programs in this new role," Olswanger stated.  "We have created excellent momentum in both areas and I'm excited to see what else we can accomplish."

Following a one-year stint as a volunteer assistant coach at Redlands, Olswanger joined the Bulldogs as the graduate assistant for cross country in 2005-06.  He will complete his Master of Arts in Higher Education through the University of Redlands later this month.  Recently, Olswanger spearheaded the Redlands Distance Summer Series, a weekly opportunity for runners of all ages to participate in friendly competition at Ted Runner Stadium.

"We are excited that we are able to bring this part-time position on board and keep Coach Olswanger on our staff for the foreseeable future," Director of Athletics Jeff Martinez said.

Olswanger arrived at Redlands after an outstanding collegiate career with the Idaho State University Bengals.  He landed on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic Team nine times while earning a combined six letters in cross country and track & field.  He capped off his stellar career as the 2004 ISU Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year.  In addition to his impressive athletic accomplishments, Olswanger was named to the Dean's List each year of his college career, while earning dual bachelor's degrees in Social Sciences and Secondary Education.

Olswanger takes over the cross country program following the women's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championship in 2006.
