The SCIAC Athletes of the Week have been named and the honorees are: Pomona-Pitzer's Crosby Freeman (men's cross country) and La Verne's Courtney Rollins (volleyball).
PP: Crosby Freeman, Cross Country
Freeman won the NCAA Men's Cross Country West Regional meet this
past weekend. He paced teammate Will Leer to a second place finish,
and put the Sagehens into 2nd place as a team; the Hens lost by 2
points to champion Willamette. Freeman's time of 24:41.35, was
ahead of teammate Leer's 25:09.50 time.
ULV: Courtney Rollins, Volleyball
A senior from Hermosa Beach, Rollins registered double-figure
totals in both kills and digs in all three matches of the NCAA West
Regionals as La Verne captured its third straight West Region
title. Rollins tallied 10 kills and 15 digs in ULV's 3-0 sweep
(30-5, 30-26, 31-29) over 15th-ranked Whitworth in the regional
final on Nov. 12. Named to the 2005 AVCA Third Team All-America,
All-West Region and First Team All-SCIAC teams last week, Rollins
tops the sixth-ranked Leopards in kills per game at 3.07.
