Stags Sweep Cardinals 5-0 to Advance to NCAA Men's Tennis Final Four

Chattanooga, Tenn - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team set the tone early in the quarterfinal matchup against Wesleyan (Conn) by sweeping doubles to enter singles play up 3-0.

Nikolai Parodi and Daniel Morkovine won 8-4 at the No. 1 spot after Glenn Hull and Jake Berber reeled off three straight games after trailing 6-5 for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. Julian Gordy and Jake Williams raced out to a 7-2 lead at No. 3 doubles and faced a rally, but closed out the match 8-6.

Parodi avenged an earlier season loss to Steven Chen from Wesleyan by winning at the top spot 6-3, 6-3. Senior Max Macey would clinch the match for the Stags dominating his singles match 6-2, 6-0.

The Stags will return tomorrow to face No. 1 Middlebury in the semifinal at 2 p.m. EST. The two teams last met earlier this season at the Trinity Invitational in Austin, Texas, as Middlebury gave the Stags their first loss of the season 6-3.  Emory and Bowdoin will square off in the other semifinal.
