SCIAC Honors Athletes of Week: CMS' Wang, Muhich
May 11, 2006

The SCIAC Athletes of the Week have been named and the honorees are: CMS' Larry Wang (men's tennis) and CMS' Jackie Muhich (women's track & field).

CMS: Larry Wang (Men's Tennis)
The freshman from Orange won both his singles and doubles matches to help lead the third-ranked Stags to a 4-3 win over sixth-ranked UC Santa Cruz (defending national champions) in the second round of the NCAA Division III Team Championships. He and Gui Schils won at #1 doubles 8-4. This was their ninth straight doubles victory and they will very likely be the top-ranked team at the Division III Individual Championships. He then won decisively at #2 singles 6-0, 6-1. The win solidified his selection to the NCAA Championships in singles. CMS is 24-4 overall.

CMS: Jackie Muhich (Women's Track & Field)
The senior from Encinitas broke her own CMS record in the 400 hurdles by 0.85 seconds with a time of 61.62. This time leads the nation by 0.75 seconds and is the second best in SCIAC history. Muhich helped lead the Athenas to the SCIAC title last week with wins in the 400, 400 hurdles and anchoring the 4 x 400.
