SCIAC Honors Athletes of Week: Pomona-Pitzer's Jablonski, Gyorffy

The SCIAC Athletes of the Week have been named and the honorees are: Pomona-Pitzer's Jeff Jablonski (men's tennis) and Janelle Gyorffy (women's water polo).

Pomona-Pitzer: Jeff Jablonski, Tennis
Jablonski, a junior from Shoreline, Washington went 2 and 1 in singles and 3 and 0 in doubles on the week. On Monday, the unranked Jablonksi teamed with partner Neil Patel to knock off the number three doubles team in the country from Gustavus Adolphus, 8-5 in doubles. On Friday, Jablonski was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at number one singles against Caltech, and an 8-2 winner in doubles with Patel. On Saturday, facing the country's #3 ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Jablonski was a 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 winner at number 1 singles and an 8-2 winner at number one doubles. The singles win was against the number 8 ranked player in the region. The doubles win, one of the biggest upsets in Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis history, came against the top ranked doubles team in the country.

Pomona-Pitzer: Janelle Gyorffy, Water Polo
Gyorffy had 3 goals in the Sagehen's 9-7 win over the 3rd ranked Occidental Tigers on Friday. On Saturday, Gyorffy tallie! d 6 goals in the Hen's 14-13 double-overtime win against CSU San Bernardino. Pomona-Pitzer is currently ranked #1 in Division III.
