SCIAC Honors Athletes of Week: Cal Lutheran's Meier, Caltech's Davis

The SCIAC Athletes of the Week have been named and the honorees are: Cal Lutheran's Andrew Meier (men's basketball) and Caltech's Rene Davis (women's basketball).

Cal Lutheran: Andrew Meier, Men's Basketball
Andrew Meier recorded 42 points, 11 assists and 22 rebounds in two victories for the Kingsmen this week. Against Redlands Meier shot 10-for-13 for a season-high 26 points. He was just an assist away from a triple-double as he finished with 13 rebounds and nine assists to go along with his 26 points. In the SCIAC opener Meier led all players with 16 points as CLU defeated Whittier. He was just one rebound away from a double-double in the contest as he finished with nine boards.

Caltech: Rene Davis, Women's Basketball
Caltech defeated Pomona-Pitzer on January 13th by a score of 55-53. This is the first ever NCAA Division III and SCIAC victory for the Caltech women's basketball team. Against Pomona-Pitzer, Junior guard/forward Rene Davis scored 18 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocked shots, 8-15 from the floor, and her 3rd consecutive double-double. On January 11th, vs Occidental, Rene scored 24 points, 21 rebounds, 8-16 from the floor and 2-2 from 3FG.
