SCIAC Honors Athletes of Week: Redlands'

The SCIAC Athletes of the Week have been named and the honorees are: Redlands' Nick Obie (men's golf) and Whittier's Kim Charlson (women's water polo).
Redlands: Nick Obie (Men's Golf)
Obie led the Bulldogs to two victories last week, as Redlands won
the 4th and 5th SCIAC 18-hole tournaments. In Monday's tournament,
the senior Obie tied with his teammate R.J. Scholl for first place
with a solid round of 70. On Thursday, he shot five-under-par for
67 to win the event at Sterling Hills. Overall, Redlands tallied
first-place scores of 286 and 281, respectively.
Whittier: Kim Charlson (Women's Water Polo)
Kim Charlson, a senior 2M and 2MD player from San Diego, CA, turned
in another fantastic week for the Poets. In two SCIAC games she
finished with 32 overall plus/minus points including 4 goals, 6
drawn penalties, 6 steals, 3 assists and a field block. Against
Redlands, Charlson contributed 3 goals, 1 drawn penalty, 3 steals,
2 assists (19 overall plus/minus) in the 11-9 victory. In the
second game of the week against Occidental she scored 1 goal, had 5
drawn penalties, 3 steals, 1 assist, and 1 field block (13 overall
plus/minus) as the Poets defeated the Tigers in overtime. Charlson
is a SCIAC target as she has been nam ed to the 1st Team All-SCIAC
3 times and has received Division III All American status 3 times.
