Winterburn Notches 200th Career Win

University of La Verne head baseball coach Scott Winterburn collected his 200th career victory Saturday April 4th to headline a three-game conference sweep over the California Institute of Technology.

The Leopards shut out the Beavers 17-0 in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader at Ben Hines Field as Winterburn earned win #200 for his career.  La Verne went on to top Caltech 18-2 in the second game to complete the sweep.  The Leos topped the Beavers 23-4 in the series opener Friday in Pasadena.

In the process, La Verne (16-10, 6-6 SCIAC) registered its 13th straight victory to reach the .500 mark in league play after dropping its first six conference games.

Winterburn is in his ninth season of the helm of the Leopard program, earning SCIAC championships in 2004, 2005 and 2008.
