Attwood Named SCIAC Assistant Executive Director

Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Executive Director Jennifer Dubow has announced the recent hiring of Chris Attwood as the Assistant Executive Director.

The Rockport, Mass. native brings more than 10 years of experience working in athletic communications and media relations to his position in Southern California.

“I am very excited and honored to join such a wonderful conference,” Attwood said of his appointment. “I want to thank Jenn Dubow and the hiring committee for the opportunity to help the SCIAC reach new heights.”

Attwood joins the SCIAC after spending the last three years in the Athletic Communications Department at Division III Amherst College in Massachusetts, including the last year and a half as the Director of Athletic Communications. During his time at Amherst, he promoted the team’s 27 intercollegiate athletic teams including the NCAA Division III national champion men’s soccer team (2015) and women’s basketball team (2017), oversaw several NESCAC and NCAA tournament contests, and served on several committees.  

Prior to his position at Amherst, Attwood spent five years as the Sports Information Director at Division III Elms College in Chicopee, Mass.

During his time at Elms, Attwood served as the primary contact for the institution's 15 varsity sports, and was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the sports information department. Additionally, Attwood directed the redesign of the school's official athletics website, oversaw work study students and interns, and managed various aspects of game day operations.

Prior to Elms, Attwood served as a sports information graduate assistant at Marshall University where he obtained his master's degree in Sports Administration in 2009. During his two years at Marshall, Attwood was the primary contact for the baseball and women's volleyball teams, and helped coordinate the Conference USA Women's Volleyball Championship in 2007.

Attwood graduated from Springfield College in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in Communications/Sports Journalism and English.
