Evan Murphy of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) was named Second Team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as recently announced by the organization.
Murphy, who was one of 13 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) women's lacrosse student-athletes to be named to the IWLCA All-West Region team earlier this season, was the only player from the conference to earn IWLCA All-American status. Nineteen NCAA Division III women's lacrosse players were named Second-Team All-Americans, while a total of 57 players garnered first, second or third team status overall.
Murphy led the Athenas with 81 points (41 goals, 40 assists) and was named the 2018 SCIAC Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-SCIAC honoree. She helped CMS clinch the SCIAC Postseason Tournament title with a 17-5 victory over Pomona-Pitzer and advance to the NCAA Championship.
