The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) will have a pair of teams competing in the 2018 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship beginning Thursday, May 17 as the field for the national tournament was recently announced through NCAA.com.

The third-seeded Chapman baseball team battled back from a 10-1 deficit in thrilling fashion to post a 20-12 win over second-seeded Redlands to claim the 2018 SCIAC Tournament title on May 6 on the campus host La Verne.

Chapman (34-11), which defeated Redlands, 5-2 in GAME 6 to force the if-necessary GAME 7 in the double elimination tournament, secured the program's first-ever SCIAC Tournament title with the win, garnered the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. Redlands (33-11) secured an at-large selection to the tournament.

Both the Panthers and Bulldogs will head to the Whitworth Regional in Spokane, Wash. with play set to take place between Thursday, May 17 and Sunday, May 20. Joining the SCIAC representatives in Spokane are Concordia University Texas (Pool C at-large), Texas Lutheran (Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference winner), Texas-Dallas (American Southwest Conference winner), and Willamette (Northwest Conference winner).

Chapman will begin its 2018 national postseason run against Willamette at 11 a.m. on May 17, while Redlands begins its playoff journey at 2:30 p.m. against Texas-Dallas.
